Automatic stabilization for shaky footage

The challenge

Submissions from guests and contributors are often filmed handheld, so the footage can come in noticeably shaky — for example when someone holds the camera and re-grips it several times mid-shot. Shaky clips are hard to use in a polished video and often have to be dropped or re-requested, which slows teams down and lowers the quality of the finished edit.

Our approach

Introduce a digital stabilizer that automatically smooths shaky footage. When shaky material is added, Mozaik would apply image stabilization to steady the shot, with a simple on/off control so editors stay in charge of the result.

Expected impact

  • More submitted clips become usable, even when filmed handheld
  • Steadier, more professional-looking finished videos
  • Less time spent dropping or re-requesting shaky footage
