Enable additional cropping for scenes with existing crop effects

The challenge
Users currently cannot use the crop functionality in the Mozaik video editor for scenes that already have a crop effect applied, such as split-screen or interview layout scenes. In these cases, cropping is disabled because the scene already uses an animated crop effect. This limits users’ ability to fine-tune footage placement in layouts where precise framing is especially important.

Our approach
Allow users to apply additional manual cropping even when a scene already contains an existing or animated crop effect. Users should be able to further adjust the framing of their footage in split-screen, interview, and similar layout scenes without being blocked by the existing crop behavior.

Expected impact

• More flexibility when editing split-screen, interview, and other layout-based scenes

• Better control over footage framing even when animated crop effects are already present

• Fewer cases where users need workarounds to achieve the desired composition

• A more consistent cropping experience across different scene types
