Improve video streaming performance with team-level CDN support

The challenge
Some users, especially those located outside the European Union, experience slower loading times in Mozaik. This is particularly noticeable when working with video content in Mozaik and the Mozaik video editor, where playback may buffer more often or feel less responsive.

This happens because the current infrastructure does not provide streaming servers close enough to every user location, which can make accessing video content slower for teams in regions farther away from the existing infrastructure.

Our approach
Introduce a new CDN infrastructure for video streaming in Mozaik. This CDN should be configurable per team, so it can be activated or deactivated individually depending on the team’s location, requirements, and setup.

For teams working in regions where Mozaik does not currently have nearby streaming infrastructure, video content should be served from CDN locations closer to the user.

Regulatory and data residency requirements
Team-level activation and deactivation is required because some teams have strict data regulatory requirements. These teams may need Mozaik to run only on infrastructure where no data leaves the European Union.

For those teams, a global CDN infrastructure may not be suitable. They must be able to deactivate CDN-based video streaming and continue using the existing infrastructure to ensure their data residency and compliance requirements are met.

Expected impact
• Faster loading of video content for users outside the current core infrastructure regions
• Less buffering during video playback
• A more responsive experience in the Mozaik editor
• Better performance for internationally distributed teams
• Team-level control over whether CDN-based video streaming is enabled
• Ability for teams with strict EU data residency requirements to keep using the existing infrastructure without global CDN routing
