Interactive mode for the AI editing agent

The challenge

Today the AI editing agent runs fully automatically — you set it up and it edits the video end to end with no back-and-forth. For straightforward projects that's exactly what you want. But when the raw footage is complex or the result really matters, there's no way to steer the agent while it works: you can't tell it what you're going for, and it can't ask you anything to resolve ambiguity. So the agent has to guess, and the editing quality suffers compared with what's possible when it can check its decisions with you.

Our approach

Let's add a choice when you set up the AI editing agent: run it fully on autopilot as today, or run it interactively. In interactive mode you'd be able to chat with the agent directly inside the project, and the agent could ask you clarifying questions so it makes the best editing decisions based on your raw material. Both modes stay available, so you pick the right one for each project.

Expected impact

  • Choose per project whether the agent runs hands-off (autopilot) or collaboratively (interactive)
  • Higher editing quality on complex or high-stakes footage, because the agent can ask instead of guess
  • Steer the result while the agent works, right in the project, without redoing the edit afterwards
  • Keep the speed of full autopilot whenever that's all you need
