Preset which camera is used for recording in a template

The challenge

Today, every new recording defaults to the inside camera, so anyone who needs the outside camera has to switch it by hand — once for every recording. For a single video that can mean re-switching the camera on every clip.

This is hardest when recording is rolled out to less technical contributors — for example staff capturing B-roll out in the field or at an event. Every manual setting is one more thing they can get wrong, and admins can't guarantee the right camera is used.

Our approach

Let admins define, per template, which camera (inside or outside) is used for recording. Once it is set on the template, that choice is preset for everyone who records from it — contributors never see the decision and cannot pick the wrong camera.

Expected impact

• No more switching the camera by hand on every recording
• The correct, consistent camera for every clip made from a template
• Easier rollout of recording to non-technical contributors, with fewer mistakes
